So… I miss summer, and beings that I live in South Dakota, its going to be a long wait! To keep that summer feeling going, I will be doing a series of paintings that have to deal with summer and all of the wonderful things that go with it. For example, here is a lovely cow! In SD, we have plenty of these—and they are always willing to pose for a lovely picture to be later painted as a a portrait!

SINGLE HORSE

This piece features a slightly impressionistic depiction of a single horse standing in a Midwestern field. The colors in this piece are quite vibrant; the brushstrokes are also quite loose in this painting, creating a soft dramatic appeal.

SOUTH DAKOTA WHEAT FIELD

This piece features a wheat field in Northeast South Dakota. A line of trees can be seen in the far landscape and a storm begins to gather on the horizon line. This is a great representation of the Midwestern landscape, you see this sort of scene everywhere; which is why I love it so much here.
